My logo is a puzzle piece because I am naturally drawn to solving problems.
I love culling down a mass of stuff into something useful, understandable or just fun. I think this is what drew me to editing. I’ve been playing with gadgets & gizmos my whole life, including early exposure to photography & video. Yes, I remember learning on 1/2″ reel to reel Sony VTR’s back in the 70’s (black & white only mind you), so I go way back with this stuff.
Since college, I have been involved with the world of post production in one way or another. From being an on-set video assist operator to developing the first on-set non-linear editing system used on some major motion pictures (Casper, Father of the Bride, etc.) to freelance editing to starting and running post houses in Los Angeles, I’ve seen editing from about every angle.
And now I return to what gives me the most satisfaction, cutting & producing.
I have a heavily equipped home studio and have a rich vein of outside resources to call on when needed for projects outside my scope or expertise. My former business, West Post Digital, worked on a number of notable tv, documentary & feature film projects from Extreme Makeover to South Park.
I am currently compiling my personal editing work into a demo reel but in the meantime here are few recent pieces to check out: [one_half padding=”30px 0 20px 0″]CLIENT: Preval (www.preval.com)
PROJECT: Sizzle reel for SEMA trade show. From several hundred client provided photos, I created a visual story to highlight the use of Preval’s products used to restore & transform a 1992 Range Rover into an amazing Woody. With a limited budget and just 2 days to ‘make something out of nothing’, the results were well received. My role on this was to first tell the complex story of this restoration by assembling the photos into a logical sequence. From there, and with client feedback, it was decided to ‘narrate’ the story using lower third titles. I also created the opening sequence, chose & edited the music and created many of the graphics. I also color corrected the photos and added moves to them in order to turn a static slide show into a compelling, dynamic sequence. [/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”10px 0 10px 0″]

PROJECT: For the GSN TV series “Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza”, I was acting Post Producer in helping to design and budget the post workflow and handle other technical needs for the series. In addition, I produced and edited this promo which was used to promote the live show taking place at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. [/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”10px 0 10px 0″]

PROJECT: This project came to me as a crude 2 hour ‘documentary’ with the request to turn it into something commercial. I recruited some industry buddies to help write, produce and shoot interviews. Together we created a tight, 60 minute TV style doc that has been purchased, downloaded and streamed by thousands of viewers. I cut most of the documentary as well as the promos for the video such as this one which has been viewed almost 6 million times on Youtube! [/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”10px 0 10px 0″]
